Portuguese manager Nuno Campos has emerged as a strong candidate to take over at French Ligue 1 side Toulouse next season, following his impressive work in Hungary with Zalaegerszeg (ZTE).
The 51-year-old is one of three contenders to replace Spaniard Carles Martínez, who is expected to leave the French club at the end of the season, according to reports from Hungary that have been confirmed by our newspaper.
Campos’ contract with ZTE was automatically renewed after the club secured their top-flight status. However, sources indicate that the deal, which runs until 2027, includes a relatively low release clause—one that Toulouse can easily afford.
Under Campos, ZTE has exceeded expectations this season, comfortably securing survival in the Hungarian first division early on. The team currently sits fifth in the league table with 48 points and remains in contention for third place, which would grant a spot in next season’s Conference League.
