Arsenal Women have announced that England international striker Beth Mead will leave the club at the end of the current season, bringing an end to her nine-year stint at the Emirates.
Mead, 31, scored 86 goals in 263 appearances for the Gunners, playing a pivotal role in the club’s 2018-19 Women’s Super League triumph. She also provided the decisive assist in last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final victory over Barcelona.
“Beth has made an immense contribution to our club over nine years and will go down in history as one of our finest strikers and a true legend,” said Clare Wheatley, Arsenal’s head of women’s football.
Having previously played for Sunderland, the forward was a key member of the England squad that won back-to-back European Championships. However, she missed the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup due to an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
