The 2026 World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Cup China leg will take place in Guiyang from June 15 to 21, according to a press conference held in the city on May 8. This marks the first time the prestigious event, organized by the World Boxing Federation (WBF) and included in the official global boxing calendar, has been hosted in China.
The tournament is co-organized by China’s General Administration of Sport’s Boxing and Taekwondo Management Center, the Chinese Boxing Association, the Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Guiyang Municipal People’s Government. It will attract elite athletes from 54 countries and regions, including Olympic champions, world champions, and continental champions.
The competition will feature 20 weight categories for both men and women. Over the seven-day event, participants will compete for world boxing ranking points and the championship title. China’s national team will field 19 athletes, including Guizhou-born boxers Yang Chengyu, Wu Yu, Zhang Jiamao, and Mo Changning. Notably, Zhang Jiamao secured the men’s 55kg title at the WBF World Cup Brazil leg in April.
Beyond high-level competition, the event serves as a platform for cultural exchange and boxing promotion. Organizers have planned a series of side activities, including an international boxing training camp before the tournament to foster athlete interaction and friendship, a boxing star campus charity tour to promote the spirit of perseverance and support youth sports development, and an opening ceremony featuring artistic performances showcasing Guizhou’s unique culture. A special market will also be set up at the venue to make the event more accessible to the public.
A professional broadcast team will produce high-quality international signals to ensure global viewership, while official ticketing channels will be opened for fans to watch live.
