Mark Rushbrook, head of Ford’s racing division, has expressed support for the FIA’s plans to bring V8 engines back to Formula 1 by 2031.
“It’s great to see that the FIA and Formula 1 are already discussing the next set of regulations. As shareholders in the sport, we will share our perspective. As a company that produces many naturally aspirated V8s, we would certainly love to see V8s here,” Rushbrook told Motorsport Week.
Red Bull and Mercedes have also previously voiced their support for the V8 return. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated that the reintroduction of V8s could happen as early as 2030–2031.
