Former CSKA Moscow player Alexander Grishin stated on Match TV that head coach José Mourinho could bring order to Real Madrid.
Earlier, journalist Sirop López reported on the radio show El Tertulión de Tiempo de Juego that Real Madrid will announce Mourinho’s appointment at the end of the season. The team is currently led by Álvaro Arbeloa.
“Mourinho is a charismatic man who has won titles. He will command respect from the players. What bothers me is that the players forced out Xabi Alonso, a system-oriented coach. They didn’t want to play defensively. The team fell apart very quickly. When Arbeloa came in and started pandering to the players, I immediately said it would only work for three matches. There’s no one else to appoint at Real Madrid. They need Ancelotti or Zidane, but they’re both busy with national teams. So Mourinho’s return is logical. He will instill discipline, but it seems to me he’s already past his prime,” Grishin said on the program “All on Match!” on the Match TV channel.
Mourinho served as Real Madrid’s head coach from 2010 to 2013, leading the team to La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España titles. The 63-year-old specialist currently manages Benfica.
